Introduction:
Diosmin/Hesperidin is a unique natural formula that combines two powerful antioxidant flavonoids to supports healthy blood flow in the legs and throughout the body.
Diosmin and hesperidin is a great combination for vein disorders, such as hemorrhoids, varicose veins, etc. Diosmin has the necessary benefits from the combination, but it works much better together with hesperidin. Moreover, diosmin/hesperidin with the proportion 9:1 or 90:10 are the best formula after numerous experiments and proofs, some other formulas also include Horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) seed extract, Butcher's Broom Extract (Ruscus aculeatus) (rhizome) (10% ruscogenins), Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) whole plant extract (min 40% asiaticosides),etc. All these ingredients except diosmin and hesperidin are to achieve the best wanted effects. Diosmin in is a naturally occurring fiavonoid glycoside that can be isolated from various plant sources or derived from the flavonoid hesperidin. Diosmin was first isolated in 1925 from Scrophularia nodosa, and first introduced as a therapeutic agent in 1969. Diosmin is considered to be a vascular-protecting agent used to help improving chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), haemorrhoids, lymphedema, and varicose veins. As a flavonoid, diosmin also exhibits anti-inflammatory, free- radical scavenging, and antimutagenic properties.
Diosmin and hesperidin are flavonoid compounds. When used together, they prolong the vasoconstrictor effect of noradrenaline on the venous wall, thus increasing venous return and reducing venous hyperpressure present in patients with chronic venous disease. They also improve lymphatic drainage and protect the microcirculation from inflammation. Diosmin and hesperidin are used together in the treatment of venous disease e.g. chronic venous disease and haemorrhoidal disease.
