What is Black Cohosh Extract?

Black cohosh also is known as baneberry, black snakeroot, bugbane, squawroot, cimifuga,rattletop, rattleweed, traubensilberberze, rattleroot, and wanzenkraut .It has commonly been used to treat symptoms of menopause, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), painful menstruation, acne, weakened bones, and for starting labor in pregnant women. It also seems to have some effects similar to the female hormone, estrogen. Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa) is a species of flowering plant of the family Ranunculaceae. It is native to eastern North America from the extreme south of Ontario to central Georgia, and west to Missouri and Arkansas. It grows in a variety of woodland habitats, and is often found in small woodland openings.
